Digby Morton at Vacpack
General Manager

Digby is our Founder and lifeblood of the business – there’s very few that know as much as Digby when it comes to packaging processes and machinery. With initial experience in packaging and shrink labeling machinery, Digby’s expanded his personal expertise over the years to include consumable lines that accompany the machinery.

Digby is known as the leading authority on shrink sleeve labelling machinery and labels in New Zealand and has successfully overseen more than 25 full system installations along with the label supply on many of these.

To meet customer demand Digby’s leadership skills have united a capable team of professionals – all of whom play a vital role in the successful management of D&L Packaging & Vacpack. Digby and the team are passionate about building business relationships and delivering the best solutions for their clients.

Digby’s entry to a passionate career in food packaging and processing started in a role of Sales Manager in a growing packaging company, based on Auckland’s North Shore. In 2000 he identified there were areas of the packaging industry that were not being represented by any local New Zealand companies and with a leap of faith and a strong customer service focus, Digby and his wife Leigh founded D&L Packaging.

Over the past two decades, Digby has become the go-to person for shrink label application systems and shrink sleeve labels in New Zealand. He has loyally worked with his initial overseas contact who is a world leading shrink sleeve and machinery manufacturer for the entire time in business cementing a mutually respectful partnership.

Now supported by a hardworking team, including his wife Leigh and son Tim, Vacpack and D&L Packaging are managed in tandem allowing us to specialise across a wide range of categories to meet the needs of the New Zealand market.

Outside of the office, Digby is a keen swimmer and has competed in a number of national competitions and the World Master’s Games for both open water and pool swimming. He’s also an active member of Red Beach surf life-saving club and often competes in both Northern and national championships. While occasionally patrolling Red Beach & Pakiri.

Digby’s other two sporting passions include Rugby and the Aussie V8 supercars. Weekends will often find Digby and Leigh enjoying cruising in their American muscle car and spending time with family, grandchildren and friends.
